We’ve said on a number of different occasions, that we are more than excited for our new friends south of the border. Daily Fantasy Sports has changed the way we approach our job here at Onside Interactive. You challenge us to be better, and we’re happy to be a resource.
But not to be forgotten, are those long time supporters of our product. The ones who play long format fantasy football where you draft a team. Very similar to the NFL.com format.
In DFS, you need not worry about individual defensive player stats and tendencies for the most part. Because its built on team defense and special teams. But in long format, you select defensive players. So here are a few guys to keep your eye on this weekend in CFL Fantasy football:
- Tommie Campbell – DB, Calgary Stampeders
He had six tackles last week, and Scott Mitchell from the Calgary Sun has been gushing about him since day 1 of training camp. He’ll be in Drew Willy’s head all evening, and will probably even come down with a pick. Or two.
- Samuel Eguavoen – LB, Saskatchewan Roughriders
A virtual unknown, he took Jeff Knox Jr’s spot at the WILL spot for tomorrow’s contest. The former Texas Tech tackler is the same size as the favorite son of Rider nation. Head Coach Chris Jones is known to make bold moves, so keep your eye on him. The Argos like the screen pass, so Sam may be tackling at will (get pun, right?)
- Connor Williams – DE, Ottawa REDBLACKS
He’s Canadian. So if you’re in a ratio league, you’re in a good spot. He’ll be starting opposite Aston Whiteside who will be on a tear to feed Mr Glenn some carpet. In 23 games at Utah State: He had 10 sacks, 1 forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He could be very valuable.
- Adrian Hubbard – DE, Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Store him on your roster, even though it sounds like Shayon Green will be getting another chance opposite Jamaal Westerman this week. Green has been getting heavily criticized for his lack of run defense, and create decent pressure on the QB. After one more sub-par performance this week against Calgary, expect Hubbard to steal the job. So if you’ve got room, grab him before your friends do.
- Ronnie Yell – DB, BC Lions
Funny, right? Yell a sleeper? Well, now that TJ Lee is on the scene he gets all of the credit that Mr Yell used to as the ball hawk on the left coast. As we saw last week and last season, Masoli is prone to throwing a couple “What were you thinking!!!” passes a game. And Ronnie is no stranger to a pick 6.
