2016 CFL Fantasy All Stars – Offense

***DISCLAIMER***

These may be totally different than the league nominations.

We (okay, mostly Dan) went position by position and highlighted the top WEEKLY DFS and long format performers at their respective spot. Sure, anyone could say “Adarius Bowman, Chris Williams, Derel Walker and Davaris Daniels are the all star team!”

But as we’ve done since week 1 of the regular season, we go position by position on the depth chart and break down matchups. These winners and honorable mentions would have given you consistent point production week after week, or were the top point performer at their position for one specific week on numerous occasions.

Alright, now that we’ve got that out of the way.  Without further adieu; here are your 2016 CFL Fantasy All Stars on Offense

(Full breakdown is available on Episode 26 of our Podcast)

Runner up:  Emmanuel Arceneaux – BC Lions

FIELD SLOTBACK – INTERIOR:

WINNER:  ANDY FANTUZ – Hamilton Tiger Cats

His model of consistency is what won the CFL vet this award. Fantuz caught 101 passes for 1059 yards and 5 TD’s. His 129 targets were tops amongst anyone on the strong side, by a landslide.

Runner up:  Marquay McDaniel – Calgary Stampeders

Honorable Mentions:  Bryan Burnham – BC Lions, Brad Sinopoli – Ottawa REDBLACKS

FIELD SLOTBACK – OUTSIDE:

WINNER:  GREG ELLINGSON – Ottawa REDBLACKS

One week Sinopoli reaped the rewards, the next it was Ellingson. But at this position, nobody finished at the top of his class every week more than the former Hamilton Ticat. 76 catches for 1260 yards through 17 games, his longest catch and run being 77.

Runner up:  Chad Owens – Hamilton Tiger Cats

Honorable Mentions:  BJ Cunningham – Montreal Alouettes, Kevin Elliott – Toronto Argonauts/Hamilton Tiger Cats

FIELD WIDE RECEIVER:

WINNERANTHONY PARKER – Calgary Stampeders

Tom Hanks will tell you its lonely being stuck out on an island, and sometimes the field receiver spot feels like that. But the home town kid continually finished at the top of his class at this position this season. 51 catches, 654 yards through 18 games and 4 TD’s. Because of his versatility, he also had 4 carries for 48 yards.

Runner up:  Tori Gurley – Toronto Argonauts/Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Honorable Mentions:  Sam Gigeure – Montreal Alouettes, Nic Demski – Saskatchewan Roughriders

KICKER:

WINNER:  JUSTIN MEDLOCK – Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Big time cash brought big time expectations, and Medlock paid off with a big time performance in 2016. He booted a CFL record 60 field goals, his longest being 58 yards (tied for 1st). Add on a perfect 33/33 in converts, and he earned every penny of his near 200k a year contract.

Runner up:  Rene Paredes – Calgary Stampeders

Honorable Mentions:  Chris Milo – Ottawa REDBLACKS, Brett Maher – Hamilton Tiger Cats
